Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission (AERC) is inviting applications from eligible candidates for recruitment to the post or career of Director (Tariff) by deputation or on contact basis or by direct recruitment. Age Limit : Maximum age limit is 55 years as on 01-01-2024.
However, for appointment on contract basis, maximum age limit is 62 years.

i) Post Graduate degree in Economics /MBA (Finance) from a recognised university and having 20 years of experience in dealing with Power (Electricity) sector including matter relating to tariff.
OR
A Degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering and having 20 years of engineering experience with
atleast five years at management level in large power utilities.
ii) With 2 years service in the Pay Band (PB-4) Rs. 30000 – 110000 Grade pay Rs. 16900 OR equivalent
Experience in dealing with matters relating to Electricity Tariffs, Commercial issues and power purchase agreements etc.
Experience as a Power Engineer with sufficient knowledge of Generation, Transmission and Distribution.
Good knowledge of Electricity Laws is desirable.
Experience as professional economist /power engineer

The Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission, AERC, in short, came into existence following a notification No PEL.112/97/Pt/308 issued by the Government of Assam on February 28, 2001 under provisions of the Electricity Regulatory Commission Act, 1998.
Nilamani Barua, a former Senior Chief Engineer of North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), was appointed as the first Chairman of the AERC on August 21, 2001. Anuj Goswami, an Assistant Executive Engineer in ASEB, who was attached to the Commission, was also appointed as the first Secretary in-charge of the Commission from September 18, 2001, till posting of a Secretary by the Government of Assam.
