Manipur Fire Service was established on 11th April 1957 as a part of the then Police Department. On 1st May 1991, it was bifurcated from the Police Department and became a separate Directorate headed by Director and Divisional Officer as Head of Department, Head of Office/DDO. At present, this Organization has got sanction from the Government for the opening 29 Fire Sub-Stations. Out of which only 17 Fire Station/Sub-Stations have a functioning and distributed in the 16(sixteen) District Headquarters/Sub-Divisional H.Q. including its H.Q. Fire Station, Imphal.
