The Directorate of Handloom and Textiles was
established in the year 1983. The objective of this directorate is to look
after the sectors of textiles and handloom in the state of Assam. It focuses on
escalating its productivity without compromising its quality.
It published a vacancy of various posts in its
sectors. These vacancies belong to the level of Grade III and Grade IV. A total
of 138 posts are vacant for both Grades.

Pay Scale
The qualified aspirants will get a salary of pay
band-1 ranging from INR 12,000 to INR 52,000 along with grade pay of INR 3,900.
Criteria of Eligibility
Aspirants must be citizens of India according to
Article 5 to 8 of the Indian constitution. Also, they must be permanent
inhabitants of the state of Assam.
Candidates need to have an updated and valid
employment exchange certificate in the state itself.
Academic Qualification
The minimum academic qualification to be eligible is
to pass class VIII from schools or institutions recognized by the government.
AGE
- The
minimum age, for the unreserved category, to apply for the said post is 18
years and the upper age limit is 40 years. - For
the category of MOBC or OBC, the upper age limit is 43 years. - For
the category of STP, SC, and STH, the upper age limit is 45 years. - For
persons with disability, i.e., PwD candidates, the upper age limit is 50 years.
This relaxation of age is valid only for those
aspirants who have fulfilled all the criteria for being eligible to apply for
the given posts before attaining the age limit of 40 years.
Procedure of Selection
The list of selected aspirants will be based on the
marks scored by them in the written test which is OMR based. The sections of
this examination include General Knowledge, Numerical Aptitude, Geography,
Reasoning, History, and English. The total score of the test is 100.
The merit list will be published category wise.
Hence, only one list will be released. It will be released on the website of
the Directorate as well as on two popular local newspapers.
Each incorrect answer will result in the deduction
of half marks
In terms of aspirants scoring equal marks in the
test, the selection will be based on their age. The aspirant with higher age
will be given the post. Moreover, if the date of birth of the candidates is also
similar, the aspirant with higher marks in the qualifying academic examination
will be given priority.
If the posts reserved for EWS aspirants are not
filled, the aspirants of the unreserved category will be selected for these
vacant posts.

Pay-Scale
The aspirants who are qualified will a get salary of
pay-band 2 ranging from INR 14,000 to 60,500 along with grade pay of INR 6,200.
Academic Qualification
Interested aspirants must pass the HSLC examination
to be eligible to apply for this post. In addition, they need to have a
Handloom Technology or Textile Technology certificate for a duration of two
years.
Selection Procedure
A written examination
will be conducted for the selection og=f candidates. The test will be 100
marks. Also, qualified aspirants have to sit for a practical test of 50 marks.
Application Procedure for Grade III and IV
- The
entire process of applying is only through the mode of online. Other methods of
applying are not acceptable. Interested aspirants have to apply by submitting
all their necessary information in a prescribed format. - The
guidelines for filling the form is published on the website of the Directorate
of Handloom and Textiles, which is handloomtextilerecruitmentin. - The
submission of a hard copy of the form and documents is not accepted. - After
successful submission of the form, the aspirants will be able to download their
admit card on the same website. The date of publishing the admit card, as well
as the date of examination, will be published by the authority. - The
applicants need to carefully look for the instructions and then fill the
application.
Required Documents
- Applicants
have to submit a passport size photograph which needs to be a recent one. - For
age proof, applicants have to submit the HSLC admit card. - In
the case of aspirants who have no cleared or attended the HSLC examination,
they have to submit their birth certificate given by a known and genuine
authority. Certificates of Horoscope and affidavits are not accepted for age
proof. - A
scanned image of the aspirant's signature is to be uploaded. - The
employment exchange registration certificate needs to be uploaded but it should
be a valid one. - A
declaration form A has to be uploaded which is based on the Assam Public
Services. This form is available on the website of www.assamhandloom.com. - Aspirants
with any form of disability have to submit a PwD certificate given by a genuine
and known authority. - Aspirants
belonging to the category of EWS, i.e., Economically Weaker section, have to
provide a certificate of income and asset. - In
terms of aspirants of the reserved category, they need to submit a caste
certificate given by a genuine and known authority. - An
identity proof, such as Passport, Pan Card, Aadhar Card, Voter Id Card, Driving
License, etc. together with the admit card has to be brought to the examination
centre. - After
scoring the qualifying marks in the test, the selected aspirants need to
provide the original documents together with their photocopies which need to be
self-attested.
Instructions
- The photograph should be in colour,
and the background needs to be white. The dimension of the photograph needs to
be 4.4 x 3.5 cm. It should be in JPG/JPEG format and its size should not be
more than 100 kb. - The signature needs to be done in
blue or blank ink and on white paper. The signature's dimension needs to 3.5 x
2.5 cm.
