About India Post

India Post is a government operated postal system in India, which is under the jurisdiction of Department of Post, Ministry of Communications of the Government of India. Generally called "the Post Office" in India, it is the most widely distributed postal system in the world. Warren Hastings had taken initiative under East India Company to start the Postal Service in the country in 1766. It was initially established under the name "Company Mail". It was later modified into a service under the Crown in 1854 by Lord Dalhousie. Dalhousie introduced uniform postage rates (universal service) and helped to pass the India Post Office Act 1854 which significantly improved upon 1837 Post Office act which had introduced regular post offices in India. It created the position Director General of Post for the whole country.

or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

2)The candidates will be required to furnished
Basic Computer Training Certificate from a recognized computer training
institute before issuance of appointment letter.

Language-

The candidate
should have studied the local language applicable for the posts of the
concerned states as mentioned below at least up to the 10th standard:

2)Manipur Division: Manipuri
3)Meghalaya Division: English/ Hindi

The candidates will be required to furnished
Basic Computer Training Certificate from a recognized computer training
institute before issuance of appointment letter.

The person appointed to the post of Postman
shall acquire a driving license to drive a two-wheeler or three-wheeler or
light motor vehicle within a period of two years from the date of his
appointment.

Sports Qualification:

The candidates with the following qualifications shall be considered meritorious for the purpose of recruitment under the sports quota

  • Sportsmen who have represented a State or the Country in the National or International competition in any of the games/sports listed in Annexure-3 of this notification.
  • Sportsmen who have represented their University in the Inter-University tournaments conducted by the Inter-University Sports Boards in any of the games/sports listed in Annexure-3 of the official notification.
  • Sportsmen who have represented the State Schools Teams in the National games/sports for schools conducted by the All India School Games Federation in any of the games/sports listed in Annexure-3 of the official notification.
    • Sportsmen who have been awarded National Awards in Physical Efficiency under the National Physical Efficiency Drive.

      Application Fee:

      The candidate has to credit Rs. 100 (One hundred only) through e-payment at any of the computerized post offices in India using Challan Form provided along with this notification specifying "DIRECT RECRUITMENT OF MERITORIOUS SPORTSPERSONS TO POSTAL ASSISTANT, POSTMAN AND MTS (Erstwhile Group'D') CADRE UNDER SPORTS QUOTA IN NORTHEAST POSTAL CIRCLE".
