About Ri Bhoi District Court: The Court of the District and Sessions Judge, Nongpoh was established in the year 2013 and was inaugurated on 31st August, 2013 jointly by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya Dr. Mukul Sangma and Hon'ble Mr Justice T. Nandakumar Singh, the then Acting Chief Justice , High Court of Meghalaya.

Within the jurisdiction of Ri-Bhoi District, the Court of the District and Sessions Judge, tries all Civil and Criminal cases arising therefrom. The Courts comes under the Code of Civil Procedure 1908 and other laws defining their territorial and pecuniary jurisdiction, etc. in criminal matters, Courts of the Sessions Judge, the Chief Judicial Magistrate and other Judicial Magistrates are set up under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
