About North Eastern Police Academy: The North Eastern Police Academy was established in 1978 on the recommendation of the Gore Committee with the objective of training the police personnel of North Eastern State Police Organisations at Shillong. Initially, NEPA had a limited objective of training police personnel in two basic courses and three refresher courses. Later on, NEPA began to cater to thetraining needs of police personnel of NE States and personnel of Custom, CPFs engaged in security of NE States. There are around 700 police personnel trained every year in various courses which includes Basic Training (induction) course for Dy. SP, SI and Constables of NE States and around 20 specialized courses. The number of staff in NEPA is around 250.
