About Meghalaya AIDS Control Society: Phase I of the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP) in Meghalaya was taken up during the last quarter of 1993-94. Actual implementation of the Programme could begin only in March 1994. Earlier the Programme was implemented through a State AIDS Cell but due to various constraints in implementing the programme, a Society was constituted and registered on the 20th of August 1998. As such from the 1st of April 1999 the Phase II of the Programme (1999 – 2005) and Phase-III is being implemented through the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society.
