The Inspectorate of Electricity comes into existence since the inception of the full-fledged State of Meghalaya on 21st January, 1972. It was created primarily for the administration of the Indian Electricity Act and Rules. It is technically and administratively manned by the Senior Electrical Inspector and assisted by the Inspector of Electricity, Assistant Electrical Inspector, Electrical Tester and Ministerial Staff.

The works under the Indian Electricity Act and Rules are mostly technical and regulatory in nature. Inspection and testing are being carried out all the electrical installation throughout the state. The Inspectorate also rendered technical assistance to various Government Department where technical had is not available.

Inspectorate of Electricity Shillong has invited applications from qualified candidates for the recruitment of Electrical Tester vacancy in the Office of Zonal Inspectorate of Electricity, Tura on a regular basis. Inspectorate of Electricity Shillong Job Recruitment 2021:

Application in standard form as prescribed in Part IX of the Gazette of Meghalaya are invited from the Candidate who is a citizen of India (as defined in Article 5-8 of the Constitution of India) for the Electrical Tester (Grade III) post in the Office of Zonal Inspectorate of Electricity, Tura. Educational Qualification & Eligibility Criteria for Electrical Tester Vacancy:

To be suitable for the advertised post of Electrical Tester in the office of Zonal Inspectorate of Electricity, Tura, candidate must have the following criterias:

1.   Candidate must have passed SSLC with Diploma in Electrical Engineering/ ITI Certificate in Electrician Trade from any recognized Institution with four years experience.
2. Preference will be given to candidates having knowledge of handling testing equipment, with previous experience. The post involves extensive tours across the state.
3. Knowledge of the local language is essential.

• Application duly filled in and supported with self-attested copies of certificates/ testimonials, self-addressed envelope affixed with Rs. 10 stamps accompanied with the application fee of Rs. 20/- (Rs. 10/- in case of Scheduled Tribes/ Schedules Caste/ OBC).
• Application fee should be deposited in the Government Treasury under the Head of Account, "0043-Taxes & Duties on Electricity -800- Other Receipt (03) Examination fee".
• Application should reach the Office of the Senior Electrical Inspector, Inspectorate of Electricity, Horse Shoe Building, Lower Lachumiere, Shillong, Meghalaya 793001 on or before 7th January 2022. Application received after the above said date will not be entertained.

Selection Procedure for Electrical Tester Vacancy:

The selection of the candidates will be based on the interview.
