Assam Govt to Hold TET for Teachers Appointment: Ranoj Pegu

GUWAHATI: Assam Government will soon hold the Teachers Eligibility Test(TET) for teachers' appointment in the state primary and upper primary education sectors.

Informing this Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, on Tuesday, said in a press conference that the state government is gearing up to fill up 1 lakh vacant posts as per the ruling BJP's last election promise.

The Education Minister added that a recruitment process for filling up 22 thousand posts in the primary and upper primary levels will be started soon.

"Assam state cabinet has allowed initiating the process for filling up 1 lakh posts. We will soon start the recruitment process for appointing 10 thousand teachers in the lower primary level and 12 thousand in the upper primary level," he further said, adding that the government would hold TET for filling up of these teachers' posts soon.

He also announced some relaxation to those who are yet to complete their DlEd or B-Ed courses. "The DlEd and B-Ed final year students who receive admit cards to appear in their last examinations could also apply for TET. On requests of many students, we have decided to give the relaxation,'' he said.

Pegu also said that the students who have cleared Central Teachers' Eligibility Test(CTET) could also appear in the state TET.

"Many CTET passed candidates have requested us to appoint them as teachers under the state government. So, we appealed to them to appear in the state TET that will be held shortly," he added.
