The state's Agriculture Department was established in April of 1882. However, three linked Departments of Agriculture, Cooperation, and Industries were merged in 1923. Currently, the Department of Agriculture is motivated by a desire to execute policies and programmes targeted at attaining rapid agricultural expansion while making the best use of the state's resources. Its goal is to teach farmers how to practise sustainable and commercial agriculture using scientific approaches.
