About Labour Welfare Department Assam
The Labour Department was a part of the former Judicial Department of the Govt. of Assam till 1951, when it was constituted into an independent Department.

Soon after the constitution of an independent Labour Department, the Chief Inspector of Factories and the Chief Inspector of Boilers and the administrative control of the Labour Courts and Industrial Tribunal which may constituted under the provisions of Industrial Dispute Act, 1947 were also brought under the control of the Labour Department. The Labour Department was renamed as Labour & Employment Department with effect from 10-07-1981 and a Research Cell was created in 1977 as a part and parcel of the Department at Secretariat level.

The candidates should not be less than 21 years of age and not more than 38 years of age as on 01/01/2022.

Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable :

(i) By 5 years for SC/ST candidates, i.e. upto 43 years.

(ii) By 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates i.e. upto 41 years.

(iii) For Persons with benchmark disability (PWBD) by 10 years irrespective of SC/ST/OBC and General Category of candidate.

Educational Qualification for Labour Welfare Department job:
Post Name Qualification
Research Assistant

Minimum qualification is 2nd Class Bachelor Degree in Arts/ Science/ Commerce from any recognized University.

Preferable: Experience in dealing with subjects of Labour Laws in the Government Department/ Organization Or Degree or Diploma in Labour Laws/ Social Works.

Inspector of Boilers

Candidate must have a Degree in Mechanical or Production or Power Plant or Metallurgical Engineering from a recognized University or equivalent.

Experience: Must have two years experience as technical personnel in design, construction, erection, operation, testing, repair, maintenance or inspection of boilers or in implementation of the Boilers Acts, 1923 and rules and regulations framed there under.
